DEAFBLIND SCOTLAND – REACHING OUT TO THE HIGHLANDS & ISLANDS!

Following the successful campaign to have deafblindness recognised as a distinct disability and the Scottish Government’s adoption of the Nordic Definition, Deafblind Scotland is working to ensure the experiences of people living with combined sight and hearing loss help shape future support and services.

As part of a Scotland-wide engagement programme, supported by the Scottish Government's Improving Access Fund and administered by Inspiring Scotland, we are gathering lived experiences from deafblind people, people at risk of deafblindness, and their families and carers. The information shared will help improve understanding of deafblindness, influence future policy, and strengthen access to services across Scotland.

We are delighted to be visiting communities across the Highlands and Islands and look forward to meeting local residents, families, carers, professionals and community organisations.

We want to hear about the experiences of people living with combined sight and hearing loss and ensure their voices are heard. At the events, of course, we will also share information on  Deafblind Scotland,  support available, and how people can get involved in our work.
