Margaret Keogh, a valued member of Deafblind Scotland, has released her memoir, Snakes and Ladders, a heartfelt and humorous account of her life navigating sight loss. Filled with Irish storytelling and poignant moments, the book offers a unique perspective on resilience, humour, and the power of embracing life’s challenges.

Publishing a book has always been one of Margaret's dreams, but like many, she lacked the confidence to begin. Now, with her memoir in print, Margaret has a message for anyone thinking of sharing their own story: "I have always wanted to write a book, and I think many people like myself previously, often didn’t have the confidence to do it. My advice is that you can do it. It may take 20 or 30 years, but just get on with it, start writing, and start telling your stories before it’s too late. Writing this book has given me a purpose, and I’ve loved every minute of the process!"

Snakes and Ladders has already received glowing reviews from Deafblind Scotland’s staff and members, who have been moved by Margaret’s honesty, humour, and warmth. The book offers a fresh perspective on life, and its humorous moments remind readers to never lose sight of the funny side of things — or as the Irish say, "the craic."

Margaret's memoir shines a light on the strength and determination that comes with living with sight loss, while celebrating the joy and everyday victories that make life worth living. Whether you're looking for inspiration or simply love a good story, Snakes and Ladders is sure to leave you uplifted.
